On Saturday, 13 June 2026, the City of Lanžhot and the Lower Morava Biosphere Region invited the public to an information event. Participants of the field excursion near Lanžhot visited areas where an extensive wetland revitalization project is now underway. Experts from among the project partners presented the individual restoration steps, from creating new ponds to modifying watercourses, to help retain water in the landscape even during dry periods.

Visitors learned how these measures support biodiversity – from the return of amphibians, fish, and aquatic insects to improved conditions for bird species typical of floodplain habitats. The project also anticipates that the restored wetlands will become an attractive destination for tourists, offering peaceful natural surroundings, wildlife-watching opportunities, and a short educational trail.

The excursion demonstrated that wetland revitalization is not merely a technical intervention but a comprehensive effort to restore natural processes that make the landscape healthier, more diverse, and more resilient to climate fluctuations.
